Dee Fuchs, MBA, is a Lecturer in the A.B. Freeman School of Business teaching Financial and Management Communication to undergraduate and graduate students, and serving as writing editor for the Burkenroad Reports. She also provides consulting services in strategic planning, marketing, and healthcare policy for private companies, philanthropic foundations, and non-profit groups.
Before her faculty appointment, Ms. Fuchs invested ten years founding and leading Healthy Lifestyle Choices (HLC). HLC is a New Orleans-based, national non-profit organization working to empower children, educators, and parents with the knowledge and skills to avoid risk behaviors that contribute to the leading causes of disability and death in children.
Prior to taking the helm of HLC in 2000, Ms. Fuchs worked for Tenet Louisiana HealthSystem as the Marketing Director of two acute care hospitals and as the first Regional Marketing Director for six local Tenet facilities. Her career roots are in the field of corporate communications with Entergy, where she edited the monthly employee magazine and contributed to the corporate annual report. In all, she has over 30 years' experience in strategic planning, marketing, and corporate communications.
Ms. Fuchs holds a Master of Business Administration from Tulane University, and a Bachelor of Applied Science from Loyola University. She is a past board member of the Algiers Charter Schools Association, Travelers Aid, and STRIVE.
Ms. Fuchs is married to Fred Fuchs, Vice-President of Piling and Marine Construction with Boh Bros. Construction Company, LLC, and she has two sons -- Patrick, a graduate of Jesuit High School and the U.S. Naval Academy, currently on active duty as the Engineering Officer of the USS Asheville, a naval fast attack submarine; and, Peter, a graduate of De La Salle High School and a rising senior at Baylor University. She is a life-long resident of New Orleans.
