Biography

Dee Fuchs, MBA, is a Lecturer in the A.B. Freeman School of Business teaching Financial and Management Communication, and Special Considerations in Nonprofit Management to undergraduate and graduate students. As part of her nonprofit course, she develops collaborations with local nonprofits and leads students in community service projects aligned with research and strategy development. She also provides consulting services in strategic planning, marketing, and corporate communication for private companies, philanthropic foundations, and non-profit groups.

Before her faculty appointment, Ms. Fuchs invested ten years founding and leading Healthy Lifestyle Choices (HLC). HLC is a New Orleans-based, national non-profit organization working to empower children, educators, and parents with the knowledge and skills to avoid risk behaviors that contribute to the leading causes of disability and death in children.

Prior to taking the helm of HLC in 2000, Ms. Fuchs worked for Tenet Louisiana HealthSystem as the Marketing Director of two acute care hospitals and as the first Regional Marketing Director for six local Tenet facilities. Her career roots are in the field of corporate communications with Entergy, where she edited the monthly employee magazine and contributed to the corporate annual report. In all, she has over 30 years' experience in strategic planning, marketing, and corporate communications.

Ms. Fuchs holds a Master of Business Administration from Tulane University, and a Bachelor of Applied Science from Loyola University. She is a past board member of the Algiers Charter Schools Association, Travelers Aid, and STRIVE.

Ms. Fuchs is married to Fred Fuchs, Vice-President of Development with Boh Bros. Construction Company, LLC, and she has two sons -- Patrick, a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, currently on active duty as the Executive Officer of the USS Rhode Island Gold, an Ohio Class Ballistic Missile Submarine; and, Peter, a graduate of Baylor University and a mechanical engineer working in the space industry in Cape Canaveral, Florida.
