What to Expect
Security
The University's Clear Bag Policy will be in effect for all school diploma ceremonies and Unified ceremony. Approved bags are as follows:
- Clear totes or bags no larger than 12" x 12" x 6".
- Small, non-clear clutch bags no larger than 4.5" x 6.5".
- Plastic, resealable storage bags no larger than one (1) gallon.
Prohibited items inside the ceremonies are as follows:
The following items are not allowed into any commencement-related event or student line-up areas and will be confiscated: flags, banners, signs of any size or type; alcohol; artificial noisemakers (including drums, thunder sticks, or other instruments); any type of bag not permitted by the Clear Bag Policy; contraband; containers of any kind; bottles and cans; coolers; fireworks; flammables; footballs or throwing objects; glass; laser pointers; outside food and beverages; projectiles; stadium seatback chairs with aluminum/metal; stickers; sticks; bats; poles; clubs; strollers (collapsible umbrella strollers that fit under guest’s seat are permitted); weapons (even with concealed weapons permit); drones; or any other item(s) deemed unacceptable by stadium security and Tulane University.
- Handheld umbrellas, including graduating students' second line umbrellas, are permitted and will be inspected upon arrival.

Caesars Superdome (Undergraduate Ceremony)
- ADA drop off: Drivers/Rideshare services can drop off guests with mobility concerns at Gate A Ground on Sugar Bowl Drive, parallel to Poydras Street.
- Nearby parking: Pay-to-park accessible parking is located on the East and West sides of Sugar Bowl Drive and is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Parking is limited, so early arrival is strongly recommended.
- Assistance on site: Caesars Superdome and event staff will be available to assist. Wheelchairs are available upon request to transport guests to their seats. Wheelchair bays and low-mobility seating areas are distributed throughout the Caesars Superdome. Guests using the ADA Entrance at Gate A Ground may bring one person to assist with entry. Additional family members can meet them once inside the Superdome.

Devlin Fieldhouse (Graduate Ceremony)
- ADA drop-off: Rideshare services and drivers are welcome to drop off guests with mobility concerns on Freret Street in front of Devlin Fieldhouse before parking.
- Nearby parking: The Freeman School will offer complimentary parking in the Loyola Freret Street Garage which is the closest parking lot to Devlin Fieldhouse. Parking is limited, so early arrival is strongly recommended.
- Assistance on site: The main entrance to Devlin Fieldhouse is accessible via stairs. Guests requiring ramp access should use the ADA-accessible entrance on the Law Road side of the building. Freeman staff will be available to provide directions and assistance.

Are tickets required to attend the Freeman School of Business diploma ceremonies?
No, tickets are not required. Family, friends, and supporters are encouraged to attend! Seating will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
How long will the Freeman School of Business diploma ceremonies last?
We anticipate the undergraduate diploma ceremony to last approximately 2 hours. We anticipate the graduate diploma ceremony to last approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. It will be a memorable event, and we’re excited to celebrate this milestone with you! If you have restaurant reservations after the ceremony, we recommend allowing an additional 30 minutes to exit the venue.
Will the ceremonies be livestreamed?
Yes, our ceremonies will be livestreamed. The livestreams will be located on the commencement livestream page.
What time will doors open for guests?
- For the Freeman School’s undergraduate (9AM) ceremony doors will open for guests at 8:00am.
- For the Freeman School’s graduate (5PM) ceremony, doors will open for guests at 4:00pm.
Does the Freeman School offer specialized cords or stoles?
Graduates are permitted to wear stoles and honor cords earned through University Honors, official university-recognized organizations, U.S. military service (veterans who attain the prescribed academic achievement earn special cords), or purchased at the Tulane Bookstore.
When and where will Latin Honor Cords be distributed?
Latin Honor Cords for Freeman undergraduates will be available at check-in for the undergraduate diploma ceremony.
