Biography

John S. Foreman III is the Chief Operating Officer for the oilfield and industrial service companies owned by Black Cliffs Partners (BCP), a boutique private equity firm headquartered in Salt Lake City. He joined BCP in 2021 to lead mergers and acquisitions and company strategy. 

Prior to BCP, Mr. Foreman served approximately 15 years with PetroQuest Energy, a publicly traded, independent exploration and production company headquartered in Lafayette, LA. Mr. Foreman was the Oil and Gas Marketing Manager and served in engineering, operational and financial roles. 

Prior to joining PetroQuest, Mr. Foreman served approximately 6 years with the Dow Chemical Company where he attained the level of Senior Reliability Engineer and Six Sigma Black Belt.  

Mr. Foreman joined the Energy Institute at Tulane University’s Freeman School of Business in 2012. 
 

Courses

Mr. Foreman teaches graduate and undergraduate classes in Energy Fundamentals and Trading.  He has also taught Energy Risk Management, Energy Finance, and Energy Modeling.

Students have received job offers and started great careers through Mr. Foreman's network of professionals in the upstream, midstream, and downstream sectors. After students graduate, he enjoys working with them as peers in the energy industry which is extremely rewarding and fulfilling.

Distinguished Speaker:

Mr. Foreman has served as guest speaker numerous times including for Freeman’s Business School Webinar on oil prices with Atlas Commodities, the Council of Petroleum Accountants Societies of Acadiana and the Postlethwaite & Netterville Energy Conference.
