Our MD/MBA program supports physician leaders who want to pursue clinical and administrative responsibilities, as well as those looking to pursue careers outside of medicine. Through a partnership between Tulane's School of Medicine and the Freeman School of Business, you can complete both degrees in five years. You’ll collaborate with scholars and researchers who work in business and healthcare and emerge prepared to navigate the complexities of the ever-changing healthcare industry.

MD/MBA Curriculum

The MD/MBA program will prepare you to build more efficient practices, lead effective research programs, run innovative organizations, become an entrepreneur or pursue a career in business. You’ll also get to participate in learning experiences you can only find at Freeman.

Experiential Learning

In your business core, you will gain hands-on experience in negotiations, leadership and consulting in week-long immersions and semester-long classes. Electives will let you dive deeper with projects specific to your areas of interest.

Data Literacy

All students will gain a foundation in analytics through a structured sequence of classes in the first year, giving them the knowledge and skills to make sound data-based decisions as future leaders. Students wishing to take a deeper dive can earn a specialization or concentration that will teach them more advanced skills.

Environmental, Social and Governance

ESG is essential for all businesses to provide transparency, mitigate risk and be responsible stewards of our future. With ESG principles woven into your coursework and specialized electives on sustainability, you will be prepared to handle crises in increasingly disruptive times.

Joint degree candidates should complete the application for the Full-Time MBA program and indicate their interest in the MD/MBA.
