Biography

Mauricio Prieto is passionate about entrepreneurship, both in building things himself and in helping current and aspiring entrepreneurs bring their visions to life.

He co-founded eDreams and served as its CMO and board member for 16 years. During his tenure, he played a pivotal role in its growth from launch to IPO, becoming the world’s third-largest online travel agency (largest in flights), with $5.5 billion in bookings, $550 million in revenue, and $140 million EBITDA. The company marked several firsts: Europe’s largest publicly traded eCommerce entity,  Spain’s first startup IPO and its first unicorn.

After eDreams, Mauricio moved to the US and launched Travel Tech Essentialist, a dynamic global platform for travel founders, entrepreneurs, and investors.

Prior to eDreams, he worked in product development for the online brokerage division of Charles Schwab in San Francisco and Miami and consulted for Booz Allen Hamilton in Mexico.

Originally from Mexico, Mauricio's life and career have been split among the US, Spain, and Mexico. Currently residing in New Orleans, he is deeply committed to supporting the next generation of entrepreneurs. In addition to his role at Tulane University, he leads the Entrepreneurship Launchpad course at IESE Business School in Barcelona and collaborates with Stanford University School of Engineering’s  Lean LaunchPad course.

He is on the board of advisors for several technology companies and is the co-owner of Cal Pep, one of Spain’s most iconic tapas restaurants and once listed as high as No.31 in The World’s Best Restaurants.

Mauricio graduated from Princeton University and holds an MBA from the University of California, Berkeley.
