Sharmin Akter

Sharmin Akter is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Accounting at Tulane University. Her academic journey includes a Master’s in Accounting & Finance from the University of Leeds, UK, and an MBA and BBA in Accounting from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh, where she achieved outstanding academic success.

Prior to her studies at Tulane, Sharmin held the position of Assistant Professor of Accounting at Jashore University of Science & Technology in Bangladesh. Her research primarily focuses on the archival aspects of financial reporting, with a keen interest in sustainability and governance. Her numerous publications reflect her deep involvement in these areas, particularly examining the textile sector and financial dynamics in Bangladesh.

Beyond her academic endeavors, Sharmin is passionate about experiencing the cultural diversity of New Orleans and engaging with its community.
