Computer Specifications & Requirements
Student computers must meet the specifications as outlined by the Freeman School of Business. These required computer specifications will meet your needs in the classroom and should be adequate throughout your tenure in the Business School program. Students are expected to utilize their computers during classroom instruction as determined by their instructors. These pages contain the information that you, as a Freeman School student, require to plan your computer purchase, configure your computer for the Eduroam wireless network, find answers to questions, and more.
Basic requirements for all programs are:
- Windows 11 operating system laptops, Windows 11 Professional or higher preferred
- Apple Macintosh laptops running a currently supported Apple OS
- Some classes may require software that runs only on Windows 11. Virtual Machine software, such as Parallels, running Windows 11, may be needed.
- Through Microsoft's Office 365 Student Advantage program, Tulane students may now download the latest version of Office for installation to personally owned devices at no charge
- 16 GB RAM or higher
- CrowdStrike Antivirus is available free through Tulane's license.
The following do not meet the requirements and cannot run the operating system and applications required for courses.
- Windows laptops not running Windows 11
- Macintoshes running any unsupported macOS
- iOS devices such as iPads and iPhones
- Chromebooks
- Windows Server platforms
- Linux
To access Tulane and Business School resources, you will need your Tulane username, password, and Splash Card. You will also need to set up DUO, two-factor authentication, with the Tulane Help Desk.
See the Computer Specifications & Requirements section for required computer specifications that will meet your needs in the classroom and should be adequate throughout your tenure in the Freeman program.
