Biography
Sarah Tanno is a Professor of Practice in Accounting. She joined the Freeman School in 2026 after having served as an adjunct professor at Freeman as well as American University and the Catholic University of America. Drawing on nearly 20 years of experience in forensic accounting, auditing and tax, Tanno brings real-world experience into the classroom to make complex accounting concepts accessible and engaging. Her professional experience spans public accounting and federal government service, including roles with PwC, KPMG and the White House. Most recently, she led the forensic accounting program at the U.S. Department of Labor, overseeing complex financial investigations and providing forensic accounting expertise on some of the agency’s most challenging cases. A two-time Tulane alumna, Tanno earned both her undergraduate degree and Master of Accounting from Tulane University. She is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE).
