The Tulane Energy Institute provides educational opportunities that improve understanding of the integration of energy markets, policies, technology and the environment.

These initiatives include programming in energy accounting, analytics, economics, finance, operations and supply chain management, risk management, strategy, and trading, as well as applied and basic research in business, engineering, and sciences.

We are focused on developing a highly skilled pool of employee talent to work successfully in the energy industry and related banking, consulting, financial, technology, and trading firms.

The Tulane Energy Institute fosters student interest and expertise in the energy industry, propelling graduates into top positions in one of the world’s most dynamic fields. Students in the Master of Management in Energy degree program access the cutting-edge work being done at a broad spectrum of energy companies, as well as companies that serve the industry, enhancing employment opportunities for graduates. Specializations in energy are available to undergraduates as well as graduate business students in the Master of Finance, Master of Accounting and Master of Business Analytics degree programs.  

Take advantage of Freeman’s prime location in a major energy hub – Louisiana is a leader in crude oil and natural gas production, and the Gulf of Mexico was the birthplace for many of the technological innovations that led to deep-water exploration and production globally. In addition, numerous oil and gas facilities, refineries, and petrochemical plants are located along the Louisiana and Texas coasts.

Master of Management in Energy

The STEM-Certified Master of Management in Energy provides students with a complete understanding of both traditional and renewable energy sources in order to catapult your career in a rapidly growing industry. The program focuses on the business of energy and gives students the advanced skills demanded by employers for energy finance, risk management and trading careers of today and tomorrow. Students can choose to complete the program in 10 months or extend coursework over 18 months in order to accommodate a summer internship. Graduates of the program will be qualified for jobs with energy companies, banks, financial services and consulting firms, utilities and trading organizations. Learn more.

Energy Specialization

A student in the Bachelor of Science in Management program or one of the Freeman School's specialized master's degree programs may receive a specialization in energy by completing 9 semester credit hours of approved energy courses.

Dual Degree Options

The Freeman School offers several options to earn two degrees on an accelerated schedule, including MBA/MME, MACCT/MME, MFIN/MME and MANA/MME. The MME dual degree options require a minimum of 24 semester credit hours of approved energy courses.
