The Lepage Center’s Virtual Pitch Fridays are some of the most anticipated student events of the year in the Freeman School.
Formally known as Pizza Pitch Fridays, Virtual Pitch Fridays are a regular pitch competition during which Tulane undergraduate and graduate students from across the university can pitch their ventures for a chance to win a cash prize. Pre-pandemic, Virtual Pitch Fridays looked a little different: Teams would present in person at the to a panel of judges while enjoying boxes of pizza. Once the pandemic struck, Pizza Pitch quickly got a new name and room: Virtual Pitch Fridays on Zoom.
Teams, judges, and organizers all had to learn how to make this unfamiliar style of competition fit the event's purpose. Teams who hope to pitch submit their proposals to the Lepage Center before the competition date. When the pitch begins, teams, judges, organizers and onlookers log on to the virtual event. One by one, competitors share their screens, pitch their ideas, and answer questions to a panel of Tulane Alumni judges, who determine the day’s winner.
