Business Minor FAQs

Q: Who can help me figure out if I have room for the minor?

A: Your Newcomb-Tulane College (NTC) academic advisor will help you understand how to integrate the minor into your degree.

Q: Is there a GPA requirement for the minor?

A: Students must maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA to complete the minor.

Q: Do I have to complete the business minor to apply to a 4+1 program?

A: The business minor is the optimal pathway for non-BSM students to take the fundamental business coursework needed to take full advantage of the MFIN, MME, or MANA 4+1 programs. While one could stop short of completing the business minor, after completing the necessary coursework needed for one of our 4+1 programs, it would make sense to earn the minor after putting in so much effort.

Q: When should I apply to the 4+1?

A: You can apply beginning August of your senior year. Most students apply in the spring semester, but later applications (May–July) are also accepted.

Q: Can transfer courses count towards minor requirements?

A: With the exception of INFO 1010, minor requirements must be completed at Tulane.

Q: Can students pursuing the Freeman Business Minor use the Career Management Center and other Freeman resources?

A: We encourage students to use the Freeman Career Management Center  and join student clubs that support Freeman students. This will be your “Freeman Experience,” too!
