At Tulane, our Full-Time MBA program is offered on campus and takes two years to complete. You’ll gain a foundation in analytics, learn to source and analyze data and apply findings to make strong business decisions while having environment, social and governance (ESG) woven into our MBA curriculum. You’ll also pursue hands-on experiences with companies here in New Orleans and be prepared to enter the workforce with skills employers need and value.

After your first year on campus, you can tailor your Master of Business Administration to your career interests by pursuing a specialization in:

Full-Time MBA Coursework Overview

Year One MBA Curriculum

During your first semester, you’ll gain a foundation in business and start learning how to make informed business decisions. You can expect to take courses in:

  • Analytics for Managers
  • Business Negotiations

  • Financial Accounting
  • Introduction to Business Statistics

You’ll build on your experience in the second semester, which includes working with a company during a spring practicum. You’ll also hone your business and negotiation skills throughout the MBA curriculum and in the following classes:

After completing the first year of the MBA program, many students complete an internship with a company that supports their desired career. Our Career Management Center is able to facilitate connections and assist with interview preparation.

Year Two MBA Curriculum

In your second year in the Full-Time MBA program, you can select electives to tailor your education to your career interests and personal passions. You can expect to take:

  • Leading for Success
  • The Impact Capstone
  • 7 elective courses taken over two semesters, which will allow you to earn at least one specialization in Business Analytics, Finance, Strategy and Marketing, or Sustainability 

Master of Business Administration Specializations

In addition to gaining the knowledge and practical business expertise you need in the 21st century, our Full-Time MBA students also have the option to pursue a specialization. While a specialization isn’t required, you can use these additional classes to meet more specific academic and career goals. 
You can declare up to two specializations while earning your Master of Business Administration. 

Business Analytics

Prepare to lead in our data-intensive world.

Our Full-Time MBA with a Business Analytics concentration gives you the skills needed to transform large data sets into actionable insights. Building on the core data sequence—where you will learn Excel, R for data analysis and Tableau for visualization—you will have the opportunity to learn more advanced software such as Python, Google Analytics and SQL.

Within the Business Analytics specialization of the MBA curriculum, you’ll take four courses in:

  • Advanced Spreadsheet Modeling
  • SQL Database Fundamentals and Business Intelligence or Web Analytics
  • Two of the following—Accounting Analytics, Econometrics and Forecasting, ESG in a Dynamic Global World, Social Media and Online Marketing, or Data and Analysis for Marketing Decisions

You’ll be prepared for a career as a product manager, marketing analyst, pricing analyst, consultant and more.

Finance

Become an adept expert in financial statements, investments and valuation.

Our Full-Time MBA with a Finance concentration explores derivatives, fixed-income analytics, risk valuation, risk management and more. You’ll complement your classroom knowledge with experiential learning opportunities—whether it’s conducting equity research and writing investment reports or participating in a student-managed fund.

Take coursework in:

  • Two of the following—Aaron Selber Jr Course on Distressed Debt; Aaron Selber Jr Course on Hedge Funds; Burkenroad Reports for Financial Analysis; Climate Change, ESG and Financial Markets; Darwin Fenner Student Managed Fund; ESG in a Dynamic Global World; Financial Risk Management; Econometrics and Forecasting; Financial Statement Analysis; Energy Risk Management; Valuation or Venture Capital and Private Equity

You’ll be ready to take on a career in asset management, corporate finance, financial consulting, hedge fund investment, private baking and equity, venture capital and more.  

Strategy and Marketing

Learn to apply business skills to solve problems in both large and small organizations.

Our Full-Time MBA with a Strategy and Marketing specialization focuses on developing frameworks to make corporate decisions, implementing technologies and innovations, managing talent and negotiations effectively and more. You’ll also benefit from hands-on experiences with local companies, which allows you to gain knowledge that will help you contribute professionally from day one.

Your Strategy and Marketing specialization will involve four courses total. You’ll take at least one of the following management courses:

  • ESG in a Dynamic Global World
  • Innovation and Technology Commercialization
  • Management of Technology and Innovation
  • Strategic Human Resources Management
  • Strategic Mergers and Acquisitions

You’ll also be required to take at least one of the following marketing courses within the MBA curriculum:

  • Data and Analysis for Marketing Decisions
  • New Product Development
  • Social Media and Online Marketing
  • Strategic Brand Management

You’ll be prepared for a career in corporate strategy, digital marketing, management consulting, new product marketing and strategic brand management. 

Sustainability

The future of business will be deeply impacted by climate change, social inequalities and energy transitions. Business leaders need to be prepared to manage the disruptions that lie ahead.

Our Full-Time MBA program with a Sustainability specialization covers vast topics related to climate change, environmental economics and energy transition. You’ll take the following required courses:

  • Climate Change, ESG and Financial Markets
  • ESG in a Dynamic Global World
  • ESG Reports

From there, you’ll take one additional elective course of your choosing:

  • Energy and Environmental Economics
  • Renewable and Electric Power Markets
  • Renewable Energy Project Development and Finance

You’ll be prepared to create sustainable processes and practices in nearly any business or industry.
